On our 38th anniversary April 15, 2026 an F-0 that turned into an F-1 hit our new home and gave us two trees in the roof. We both grew up in the midwest and we always had a basement to go to, but this day we had NO WHERE to go. It's not a good feeling. We ordered our shelter through Lowe's. We went through another close call while we were waiting on delivery, as another tornado passed within 1/4 mile of us. Our shelter took about 8 weeks to get here, the driver from SAIA helped me slide it in place and it took me 45 min to bolt it down. Now we're not worried as much when a storm comes in. We have since shown our neighbors this shelter, and I think one of them is getting the same model that we have, the 4 person size. P.S: I got my wife some firewood and a new roof for our anniversary.
